Early History of myPPP Formation
1953
MMyPPP (formerly known as PPP) was established on April 10, 1953, in the state of Perak as a political party named The Perak Progressive Party by the Seenivasagam brothers and became one of the opposition parties to the main Alliance Party at that time. Darma Raja Seenivasagam, better known as D.R. Seenivasagam, from Ipoh, Perak, was the first President of PPP and was an Indian lawyer.
1954
PPP joined the Alliance Party in 1954 during the 1954 Local Council Elections. D.R. Seenivasagam was elected as a member of the Ipoh and Menglembu City Council under the Alliance ticket.
1955
PPP withdrew from the Alliance in 1955 before the 1955 General Election because it was not allocated any seats to contest.
1956
PPP changed its name to the People's Progressive Party from Perak Progressive Party to reflect its identity as a national political party.
1957
The Party President, D.R. Seenivasagam, contested and won the Ipoh Parliamentary seat in a by-election that was vacated by Tun Leong Yew Koh, who had been appointed as the first Governor of Malacca.
1959
PPP won 4 Parliamentary Seats and 8 State Assembly Seats during the 2nd General Election held on the 19th. August 1957.
1960
PPP won another Parliamentary seat in a by-election and secured a majority in the local council elections for the Ipoh Municipal Council. They successfully and efficiently administered the Ipoh Municipal Council.
1964
PPP won 2 Parliamentary seats and 6 State Assembly seats during the 3rd General Election held on April 25, 1964.
1969
President D.R. Senivasagam had died on the 15th. March 1969 and the leadership was taken over by his brother S.R. Senivasagam. The year 1969 was the golden age of the PPP because it managed to gain the support of the diverse community in Perak, especially the Chinese and Indian communities due to the popularity of the Seenivasagam brothers who always spoke about justice and fighting for people's and grassroots issues.
During the third GE held in 1969, the PPP managed to win 4 Parliamentary Seats and 12 Perak State Legislative Assembly seats and only lacked 2 State Assembly seats to form the Perak State Government.
1973
PPP became one of the founding parties of Barisan Nasional and joined Barisan Nasional at the invitation of YAB Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, the then Prime Minister. The decision to join the National Front was made based on the belief that for the country to achieve political, social and economic stability, parochial and narrow party interests need to be scrapped for the sake of a multi-racial country.
However, PPP's participation in Barisan Nasional was not well received by its supporters and support for PPP began to decline, especially the Chinese community who were anti-establishment at the time and began to shift to support the DAP party.
1974
The PPP who contested on the Barisan Nasional ticket only won 1 seat in Parliament and 2 seats in the state Legislative Assembly during the fourth General Election held on the 24th. August 1974.
1975
President, S.R. Senivasagam died and Khong Kok Yet took the lead as the third Party President and PPP began to be plagued by leadership problems that affact the frequent changes in the presidency have resulted in instability until the early 1990s.

2000-2001
PPP started to strengthen its position in the early 1990s and has grown and started to get recognition from Barisan Nasional, the then President, Tan Sri M Kayveas was appointed as a Senator on the 6th. December 2000 onwards appointed as Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government on the 30th. January 2001.
2015
The People's Progressive Party (PPP) has rebranded with its new name myPPP at the Special General Meeting held on the 15th. November 2015 and used until now.
2018
Kavyeas has resigned from all posts in the party on 23rd. April 2018 and the Disciplinary Board which convened on the 24th. April 2018 accepted his resignation and also dismissed him as a Party Member for violating the Party constitution and for taking unilateral actions made by him so that myPPP lost 1 parliamentary seat and 4 state assembly seats that will be contested during the 14th GE, this decision also confirmed by the Supreme Council which convened on the 25th. April 2018.
2019
PmyPPP registration canceled 14th. January 2019 due to the leadership crisis that occurred when Kayveas withdrew his resignation and disputed his dismissal as a Party Member. myPPP got conditional approval on the 7th. October 2019 to resolve the issue of leadership in the Party but Kayveas wavered because he did not get support from the existing leadership and the grassroots of the Party, He also dragged the Organization Registration Department to court but lost all the cases he brought and this crisis has lasted until 2023.
2023
myPPP has held the Supreme Council Election during the Annual General Meeting which took place at WTC, Kuala Lumpur on 19 March 2023 as directed by the Malaysian Organizations Registration Department (JPPM).
The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has confirmed the legitimacy of Datuk Seri Maglin Dennis D'Cruz as the Party President along with the myPPP Supreme Council Member who was elected during the 2023 Annual General Assembly and has approved the appeal to cancel myPPP's registration on the 11th. April 2023.
The myPPP party was tested once again with the death of Datuk Seri Maglin on 17 November 2023 due to a heart attack at Ampuan Rahimah Hospital Klang.
Based on the Party's constitution, the Senior Vice President, YBhg. Grandfather Dr. Loga Bala Mohan, appointed as Acting President until the General Assembly of the Party elects a new President soon.
2024
The 2024 Annual General Meeting will be held on the 18th. August 2024 and Datuk Loga Bala Mohan is expected to receive full support from the Representatives to be confirmed as Party President.
